Field Notes
In the Wild:
Vintres is led by a certified sommelier who wanted to distinguish her business from the crowded wine sales landscape and while presenting herself as a knowledgeable, approachable wine concierge.
The brand needed to feel refined but not intimidating — confident, curated, and personal.
Observation:
The site needed to:
- clearly differentiate the business from standard wine sellers of the same and similar brands
- establish credibility without feeling too exclusive or elitist
- support a business model that would evolve over time
- showcase offerings beyond wine sales, including experiences and collaborations
Adaptations
I designed branding and a site that balanced sophistication with warmth, using:
- a restrained color palette pulled from wine tones
- black-and-white photography paired with selective color imagery
- clean typography and generous spacing to let the content breathe
The structure emphasized storytelling and curation over transactions — reinforcing the concierge role with no explanation required.
Ecosystem Evolution
Since launch, the ecosystem has expanded and shifted in meaningful ways:
- updated pages to reflect a new wine partnership
- flexible sections added to support rotating specials and offerings
- integration of a wine shop and independent wine club via a white-labeled platform
- new content areas to support custom-labeled wine, vinegar, and olive oil collaborations
- dedicated pages highlighting hosted wine dinners and experiential events
I built the site was built to absorb these changes over time without requiring a redesign — so the content could evolve while the underlying habitat remained stable.
